Check out Freecycle
I don't know if you ladies have heard of freecycle or not. The idea is to keep things out of the landfills by recycling things you no longer want to others. I have gotten so much baby stuff from doing this. Its awesome!
I have gotten several boxes of clothes in wonderful condition and name brands!
Toddler swing
John Deer gator power wheel
Books and tons of toys!
Moses basket bassinet
Stride rite baby shoes
baby rocker/chair
stereo for the baby's room
radio flyer tricycle
wow and I can't even remember what all I have gotten.
We have also gotten things over the last year like a fridge for our garage,TV, VCR, and our biggest score was our apache pop up camper. The lady was moving and she wasn't able to sell it so she gave it away.
Its also a great way to get rid of things you know longer want. You do have to watch the freecycle daily. I opened a seperate email just for my freecycle so it wouldn't get mixed in with my personal email.
If you are interested. www.freecycle.org and look for your state and then your city.
I got these clothes and toys and seat yesterday and today from freecycle:

Re: Check out Freecycle
We do freecycle, too, but not so much lately. Dh is the one to drive all over the place to pick things up but now he works longer hours much further away so we haven't had much luck. I don't go because with 4 kids with 4 different bus schedules, I basically can't get away from the house.
Our biggest items gotten have been a HDTV, not flat panel, that had a blown fuse. The people lived in a wealthy area and had it fixed once, it blew again and they said the heck with it and got a new one instead. For under 50 cents, my dh fixed it and it is awesome! We also got an entertainment center (someone else) and it is perfect for the room. The free tv sits on the free entertainment center, lol!

Re: Check out Freecycle
Yeah I used to be an avid freecycler when I was a SAHM 3 years ago and I recvd and gave away a ton of quality stuff.
I even made some friends whom I still keep in touch with.
Lately the group has grown soo tremendously that I was sick of receiving the emails so I left the group..
But have recently rejoined in hopes of getting some baby gear (I got some awesome, quality things for my son when he was a baby).
Its so huge here though, it is hard to filter through all the posts. The one here, caters to my city, and surrounding cities...which makes it a true cluster f*ck sometimes to deal with.
Also as PP mentioned, driving around town all over the place...was an issue. It was fine when I was a SAHM and had the time...but not now.

Re: Check out Freecycle
Tonight I picked up a cd player for the baby's room and a black & decker under the counter can opener, new in the box. Right after xmas people were cleaning out all the old stuff to make room for the new stuff. Thats when I got 3 trash bags full of toys for Jacob. Sometimes you take a chance of the stuff not being so nice but when people list the area they are from I can usually tell if its going to be nice stuff. I will warn you depending on your area you can get a lot of freecycle emails so you may want to check into a seperate email address just for the freecycle. Your inbox will fill up fast. You can also list wanted posts. In my area you are allowed to list 1 wanted post per week. A while back I listed Wanted: Treadmill. Sure enough we got one. A lady had one sitting in her basement collecting dust. Its electric and really nice. We looked it up and its worth about $700.
It was hard to pick stuff up when I was working but between my DH and I we would take turns. Now that I am home I have more flexibility. I told my DH to be on the look out for clothes 12months and up!
I am a freecycle junkie!

hahaha I knew nothing about it until my DH told me a while back. We are about an hour from Richmond and my husband signed up for the Richmond freecycle. He keeps an eye on that!

Re: Check out Freecycle
Thank You SO much!! I am meeting someone tomorrow to get a changing pad and a couple covers for it. I am hoping that maybe I can find some other baby things on there and won't have to buy so much!! I had never heard of this before! THANK YOU AGAIN!! The only thing that sucks is... the group I am in is for a town that is about a hour away, so maybe I can try to get stuff some the little towns between here and there!!
Lacie
I'll try to take a picture or two and let you girls see what I got.... and I got a few more things off ebay.....![cheers](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_cheers.png)

Re: Check out Freecycle
DH and I have been doing a massive cleansing of old stuff from our house for about the last year, and we have been freecycling a LOT of it. It's so great to know that it's not going into the landfills, and it's easy since people come and pick it all up. I hadn't even thought to look for baby gear, though, so I'll have to check it out.

Re: Check out Freecycle
I signed up too but ofcourse there is nothing real close to me. We live out in the country but the town we live in has 2000 people only so it wasnt on there. But I did sign up for Iowa City since Madison's up there and 2 other towns 1 hour away. Thats the closest to me. Thanks for the tip as it would be fun to get some things free.lol

Re: Check out Freecycle
I love freecycle for some things. I havent gotten some things already broken and had to get rid of it myself. I dont like it when they give you a description of somthing but forget to say its been left out in the rain for 2 yrs. Looks like some nice finds! Good deal.

Re: Check out Freecycle
Wow, you have some great give aways, Dee!!
My Freecycle group doesn't have that much activity.. and it's even for my whole county (we dont have one for our lil town alone). The little bit of activity we do have, I've only seen one baby item!
Here's to hopin' it picks up..
But great finds on your part!!!
