Other: I have a very active little girl in there, my OB can't get over how active she is, she has to wait for her to stop kicking the doppler to hear the heartbeat at every single appointment, I am hoping that isn't any indication of how she will behave outside of the womb. I will likely be induced at 39 Weeks, so Feb 23 or 24th due to the predicted size.

Stephanie - congrats on getting to get another look at Alyssa, but sorry to hear about the GD. What's the diet like? Do they just restrict sugar?

Lisa, the ob doesn't have you bring a sample of urine at each visit? You need to do that. The nurse is supposed to do the dip stick test for both protein and sugar in your urine. They both have to be negative. If you're not already doing this, you need to ask about it at the next visit.

As soon as I get there I give a urine sample....they always ask "can you give us a sample today", I always say, "of course, what pregnant girl can't pee on command?"...

I actually thought it was kind of weird that I don't. We do a Centering Pregnancy class that includes a 10 minute appointment at the beginning where they look at blood pressure, weight, listen to the baby, measure the fundus, and all that jazz, just no urine tests. I'll email my midwife and ask her what the deal is. There are 6 of us in the class, and as far as I know, none of us gets tested. Hmm...

Definitely get an answer. If there is sugar in your urine, it means uncontrolled diabetes. Since you passed the gd test, you should be fine here. If there is protein, it means you could be developing pre-e.

I've never used a midwife, but maybe someone who has will see this and let you know what their midwife does regarding urine tests.

I was just really surprised to hear that you weren't getting this simple test done at your visits.

I was kind of curious about it too, especially when I got a UTI and was like, "hmm...should they have caught this?" But I can never remember the questions I mean to ask when I actually have my appointments.

Hi all! I haven't been posting at all. I've been checking in though. By the time I get done reading all I'm too tired to post. Work is killing me!!!!! I'm orienting at my job. I'm a new nurse. It it so much harder than I ever expected it to be. I'm done 12 week orientation first week in February. Between that, having a 16 month old, and being pregnant, I'm beat!!!! Thanks for listening to me complain!
