Am I being out of line? Flu shot vent

2 months ago when my company started having sign ups for flu shots- I requested a mercury-free shot. I was told there was no problem and they would bring one for me. My HR person confirmed that they would be bringing me the shot last week. Today the nurse arrives- and guess what...no freakin' shot. She tells me the shot she has is actually lower in mercury than the regular shot- and it is safer for pregnant women than the mercury free shot. She was really pushing me to just take the shot she had. I kinda freaked out on her a little..and ultimately declined her shot... now i have to drive to her office next week to get the mercury-free shot...I am wondering if i am making a huge big deal out of nothing here...but still it seems like mercury shouldnt be in my flu shot.

I wonder how much mercury is really in the shot??
I usually don't get the flu shot anyway, and I don't plan to get one this year either.
I suggest u call ur OB or Midwife and ask their opinion, it can't hurt. (to get their opinion, I mean)

No, I work in a call center with a bunch of people that have tons of kids...I started here in Jan.- and these people were sick all winter long. Otherwise, I would skip it all together...but I have already been hospitalized 3 times for dehydration..and i dont really want to do that again.

kboogie.. I dont think your asking for too much. If you google vaccine ingrediants you would fall over! Its not only the mercury that i would worry about. I have never had the flu shot nor my kids. I know i take the risk but it only protects us against one strain.. what about the other 100 strains out there. And they dont always get it right year after year. I question its effectiveness.

Well like I said it's up to u- Keep urself well hydrated, and practice ur hand washing skills ,and sanitize everything, ur phones, ur hands constantly and hopefully u won't get sick -- keep taking ur vitamins!

I only asked about the hospital thing, cause I used to work in a hospital with direct contact with patients and they recommended the flu shot every year, but like I said I don't. hopefully, we all will stay healthy this year!!!

I never get the flu shot. Didn't get one during preg #1, don't plan to during this one either. I did get sick during preg #1 and had to use my inhaler (I have a history of bronchitis).

I work in a Dr's office and noone gets the flu vaccines, except some of the nurses and Drs.

I am fine doing without.
