Ultra Sound Question Empty Ultra Sound Question

I know this is going to sound dumb...but I was looking at Courtney's twins..and i was wondering why some of the pictures are SO detailed (almost 3D looking) and some of them are so grainy- and you can barely tell what is going on there? Is it a different type of ultrasound? The one ultrasound I have had so far- is the grainy barely can tell kind- that I got in the ER at 8weeks.

yes, I think there are both 2D and 3D images there. the 2D are the grainy black & white ones.

3D/4D gets better and better further into the pregnancy according to the U/S tech I was quizzing... early on they look quite skeletal, and later their little bodies fill out.

Yes, the 3D/4D is much more detailed. Here is a picture of my DD at 33 weeks. You can see her face and her little hand in front of her mouth. I would recommend having it done a little sooner than that so you can get more in the picture. Although, it was nice to see her little face all filled out. I'm definitely doing it again with this one. Also, the 4D means you get video clips, which to me were priceless! We could see her sucking her thumb and moving around. It was awesome!
