Armywife~ I am over 40lbs also. It sucks! I can't wait to start going the other direction on the scale.

dsdavin- I couldn't agree more! It's so hard right now too seeing all these diet topics and watching shows like The Biggest Loser. I want so badly to start the weight loss process but know I have to wait until the baby is here. I just hope I don't gain too much more over the next 9.5 weeks.

I don't ever do urine tests either. I asked my midwife about it and she said that research has been done that says routine testing isn't worth the cost. So they only do testing now if other things seem off and would hint at something more high risk.
Re: Post your stats! Week of January 12th-16th
I've seen photos of both of you gals and all I can say is you must have been teenie tiny prior to pregnancy because you look great. That weight gain is all for the baby!!! I'm betting those pounds will just melt off!
Re: Post your stats! Week of January 12th-16th
I was thinking the same thing, "It's all baby". I will be nice to see the weight go down instead of up. I have gained more than I wanted already and I have about 6 1/2 weeks left.
Re: Post your stats! Week of January 12th-16th
I am hoping that the weight gain slows a little now. I don't eat as much and still continue to exercise. The good thing is that it will all come off eventually!

I know at least 3 of us that NEVER get our urine tested are probably going to army hospitals. Maybe they are just cheap bastards??

Your right. I guarantee that is why ours is not checked every time. The only time mine was checked was when I felt like I had a UTI.....AND I DID!!!!!!!
Re: Post your stats! Week of January 12th-16th
Yeah, I thought Urine checks at every appointment was normal and expected, I wonder how they would know about protein in your urine or if you were dehydrated, etc.
On a side note, Dee, I am curious, are you okay with your OB going the C-Section route if they suspect Jake will be big? The reason I ask is, my OB doesn't seem to be concerned about delivering big babies, and said that you never know what is "too big" for a woman to deliver until you give it a try...I didn't have an issue at all with Olivia and she was 10lb 9oz, only pushed for 30 minutes and was up walking around and showered as soon as I could feel my legs HA. Granted I have wondered if all the stars had to be aligned for it to work out so well with such a big baby, and I worry that they won't be aligned this time and I will have a complication since she is preparing me for a huge child again, but I have to put my faith in her I guess...right? Someone please tell me yes. HA. Because if I try and deliver another fat albert and she splits me in half my OB and I are going to have words.
With that being said, I have heard of a lot of OB's that want to check size before delivery so I guess maybe my OB is the only one that isn't worried about it - HA! Lucky me.
And I agree with a PP's, I have a friend whose U/S was way off to on predicting size, I am guessing its all about how the tech handles it. But I have had friends whose U/S's were RIGHT on, exact to the oz. Strange.

WoW, Leigh, I assumed that you had a c/s with Olivia. I can't imagine delivering a 10 pounder vaginally. My doctor didn't even give me a choice this time but it could be because I had complications getting my son out.

I guess I'm just special because I don't pee in a cup and I'm *not* going to a military hospital...Hmm...

Re: Post your stats! Week of January 12th-16th
I would like to have Jake vaginally but if we find out he is too big I am all for a c-section. My OB said he would much rather do a c-section than attempt a difficult birth with a large baby. He said he did not want to put me through unnecessary pain etc by doing it vaginally. In all honesty I am really scared about the thought of trying to push a 10 pounder out. I would much rather go the c-section route. I have complete faith in my OB and trust that he will make the right decision.
That is awesome that you had such an easy time with Olivia! Wow 10 pounds 9 oz.....bless your heart!!

Dee - that is a great attitude to have. I have a friend who was SOOOOOOOO adament about NOT having a C-Section and her OB was pushing it on her, so thats why I was asking.
I was open to anything they needed to do too, Olivia's safety was #1 in my book. And as far as pain goes, I didn't feel a thing, I wish I could have an epidural once a month - LOL. And honestly with how often I am peeing these days, I wish they would just hook me to a cathereter (sp?) right now and be done with it.
Shannon - I am guessing since you had a C-Section with the first thats why they are going to schedule it again, a lot of OB's are NOT into doing VBAC's. And some ladies are just not built down there to get a baby out, so its much easier to just do a C-Section...I have a friend who pushed for 3 hours before the Doctor said "we can either break your pelvis or you can have a c-section"....hmmmmmm tough choice....ummm, C-Section please.

Amanda, you're right! I'm sure the Army hospital's are just too cheap to process urine tests at each visit. However, I've been pretty spoiled this pregnancy. I've already had 8 ultrasounds and am scheduled for at least 2 more in the next couple of weeks. It's been amazing to see how much a baby changes from week 5 to week 25. I'm high risk and the OB's here are taking excellent care of me but I still think it's a bit strange that they are doing any urnie tests. Oh well, I don't do very good peeing in those little cups anyway. It always turns out to be quite the mess, hahaha!

Weight Gain so far: OMG...I gained 7 1/2 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks!! I'm SO embarassed by my total = 35 lbs
Blood Pressure: normal
Belly measurement: on target
Urine: normal
Next appt: 1/30
Tests: none this time; still taking iron
Baby's sex: boy
Baby's name: Owen
Other: He's finally turned head down (whew!). Also, since my DD was over 9 lbs, they said they would do an u/s around 36-37 weeks and induce if he looked too big. Well, today he said they wouldn't induce before 39 weeks I was counting on those 2-3 weeks! Looks like I'll be pushing another big one out!

Re: Post your stats! Week of January 12th-16th
GAMommy....I get the same from my OB, nothing before 39 weeks, she said its a legal/insurance thing. Before 39W the risk of the baby landing in the NICU is higher (insurance companies don't want that) and the OB's need a medical reason to induce, and size is NOT a medical reason according to my OB. I figured size would be since it would increase the risk of C-Section and she said size doesn't actually do that, there are conflicting reports about that
And again, WHY in the world will my OB NOT ask for an U/S to check for size? I keep asking and she keeps telling me its because it won't change her course of action...breech is really the only reason she would consider a C-Section...
Not sure what position Avery is in yet...she thinks she is head down and that its the butt I feel up high, but can't be sure yet.
