Congrats Ladies...its starting to even out a few pink and a few blue...

I was going to post some pictures, but I looked over them again and realized they are the worst U/S pics I have ever seen, I can't make out any features, except for her HUGE FEET. Hilarious! I was bummed to not get a good profile shot, but I can hope for a good one in a few weeks when we go back to get the "Heart Pictures" that they missed.

It's scheduled for Thursday at 10 am I think. I have a feeling it might be a boy, but I don't care either way. We already have one 16 month old girl so it would be nice to not have to buy new stuff yet, but boys are great, too Most of my family think it's either a boy or want it to be a boy....we'll see

We go this comming monday the 20th!! IM SO EXCITED were moving this weekend into our new 2 bedroom apartment (its brand new and its soooooo nice) and then monday we find out the sex so we are gonna have a busy and exciting few days!

Do they do things to stress you out???

So I went for the u/s today and they found a white spot on the heart. The first thing the doc. said was that it is normal, and happens to some babies. But then she went on to state that it could be a precursor to downs. I already had the downs testing and everything was said to come back fine, but what now??? I may need to go back for another u/s at a later date. My 20 week appointment is on the 29 which is less than two weeks from now. I really hope that it's nothing. Oh it's a boy (the gender seems so insignificant after having a scare). And of course the dh heard normal and boy and was fine, while I’m here wondering how normal is it really if she says it could be a precursor r to downs. I’ll keep you ladies posted.

Marie... I don't want to make light of your situation so please don't take it that way. I wanted to explain it a little better to you. What your baby is showing is called an Echogenic Focus in the heart. There are 3 things to understand about the finding of and echogenic focus in the heart... Its NOT a heart defect and does NOT affect the function of the heart. Most fetuses with this are NORMAL. In RARE cases the findings of this has been associated with a SMALL increase in the risk of Downs. This is only the case in 2-3% of babies. Rest assure your baby is most likely going to be okay. But i do know how scary this is. Our 04 baby had markers for downs and tri 18. First he had dialated kidneys then he had cysts on his brain.. Turned out.. He was 100% healthy and one of my smartest kids! I hope this helps you. Enjoy your beautiful baby boy!!!


I had my u/s today as well. It was really nice to see her again. Yup.. its still a she! hehe Everything looked perfect except she too has a Echogenic Focus in the heart. And the way I look at that is.. I get to see her again in 4 weeks at my next apt! I know its all good. I did have the AFP test today. I dont expect anything to come out of it though. The "problem" these days is technology is SO good these days.. those darn u/s's show up everything. These things are so much more common then we hear of. Not to say that there is going to be a baby who does truely have something wrong. But thats why they follow through with everything.

April, thank you so much this is why i love you guys. That definitely helped, I have so many questions for my MD but I pray that it will all turn out okay.
