We are going to Atlanta to be with my sister and I can't wait. This would be the first year since I have been married (12 years and counting) that I don't have to cook, I just can't wait.

this is the 1st year we will be home. My mom usually has Thanksgiving but she went to Mississippi this year to my little brother who just had a baby in July. So I will be cooking at home with my oldest daughter and her fiance coming and my fil.
Our Menu
turkey
mash potatoes
gravy
corn( from my garden I had froze)
scalloped oysters ( will be my 1st time making it so wish me luck, my aunt always makes it)
deviled eggs
jello
rolls
apple pie
pumpkin pie
bannana cream pie
chocolate pie
I have a couple picky kids so we need a variety of pies.
Everyone have a Great Thanksgiving Day!!

How old are all your kids? You have a nice mix of em there like me.
Re: What do you have planned for your Thanksgiving week?
My parents just arrived today, they live in Mass half the year and here in VA with us the other half, its great. They will join us at my In-Laws for the day, we just make it a day trip, which is nice, but the one thing I hate about not preparing Thanksgiving is....NO LEFTOVERS, and that is my favorite part, so my Mom and I were talking about it today, we are going to get a small turkey breast and make some sides so we can have leftovers for the weekend - DELISH.
All your menu's sound so yummy...I am looking forward to making Thanksgiving one yet, I have only done it once, and it was only for two of us, so it was small, however a blast.
Gobble Gobble!

Re: What do you have planned for your Thanksgiving week?
Well since I am still only 17, we will be having our Thanksgiving here at home with my big family. And it will be extra huge this time around, because my older brother is here, staying with us. And we have my little sister's friend staying with us. We might have a good family friend and her husband + two little children here. We'll see. Should be good, though. I love Thanksgiving , I love cooking and eating. Mmmm!
So that makes: Me, SO, mom, step-dad, sister, brother, brother, sister's friend, and possibly 4 extra people.

We have always gone to my mom's for Thanksgiving. She also lives lives here in Sacramento. I will have to learn to cook a turkey someday, but for now I happy to have her do it. Have fun and eat up, girls!

Re: What do you have planned for your Thanksgiving week?
We are going up to Salt Lake to spend Thanksgiving with my dad! I am so excited I dont even want to work! But here is a recipe for cranberry orange relish. It is SO easy and tasts SOOOOO good with turkey. Usually the whole recipe is on the back of the ocean spray cranberries bag!
Ingredients:
1 medium orange
1 package (12 ounces) fresh or frozen cranberries
3/4 to 1 cup granulated sugar
Instructions:
Slice unpeeled orange into eighths; remove seeds. Place half the cranberries and half the orange into a food processor container. Process until mixture is evenly chopped. Transfer to bowl. Repeat with remaining cranberries and orange slices. Stir in sugar to desired sweetness. Store in refrigerator or freezer.

Re: What do you have planned for your Thanksgiving week?
Well we live in Peru, and so yeah...they obviously don't celebrate Thanksgiving here...but...we managed to find a turkey (DH was traveling 13 hours away to a larger city and was able to get a frozen one--yay!!!)!!! Last year we were stuck with chicken and pork chops...sure makes for a good story. There are 2 other American families living in the small town where we live, so we will all get together with our kids and I will be the hostess---I love having people over!! I get out of making the turkey, however, because my oven isn't big enough! lol Anyhow, we will do turkey, mashed potatoes, broccoli salad, deviled eggs, green bean casserole, a relish tray and some "pumpkin" pies (no pumpkins here, but we use squash and pumpkin pie seasoning). Everyone will bring a couple dishes and we'll do a potluck style dinner. YUMMY!!! Just out of curiosity, how much does a turkey cost in the U.S.? We paid over 100 soles for a 10 kilo turkey...which equals about $30 for a 22-lb turkey. One thing I do have to say...I miss the cold weather for Thanksgiving/Christmas!! It's summer here, so we're all in shorts, tank tops and flip flops! lol

Re: What do you have planned for your Thanksgiving week?
I'm letting my mom feed us this year. We were in Kauai on our honeymoon last Thanksgiving and I think we grilled steaks!
I did Thanksgiving one year and it turned out really well, but my mom likes to be in charge so it's less of a hassle to just let her take care of everything. I am really going to miss drinking champagne all day, but I may have a taste.

WOW Peru is far from the states! Where are your originally from? It is a bit cold here.. i think its about 21 deg f right now. Sounds like you are having plenty of yummy american food. Is that the type of food found there? How many children do you have? Do you plan on coming back? Sorry i am just curious.
Happy Thanksgiving anyway!

Re: What do you have planned for your Thanksgiving week?
Over the last few years, my parents have gotten weird about getting together and having big meals. My brother usually goes to his IL's side, and my sister usually goes to her IL's side, that way our family gets them for Christmas day. With our big family, my dh's sister hasn't invited us over in years (probably the last time was when we only had 2 kids). My parents now just make dinner reservations and enjoy their meal out.
So, we are going nowhere and having nobody over. Dh has to work the day shift. I'll make a turkey breast, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and green beans, oh and I'll get a can of cranberries. Since I'm GD, we'll most likely be skipping the pies this year.

I too am headed to ATL. We are leaving Wednesday night when I get off work. I can't wait. I am cooking with my sister on Thursday and then Friday all the family is getting together in an old church that we rent out every year for Thanksgiving.
On Sunday I am taking my husband to a Hawks (hockey) game for our Anniversary (October 27th). My paper gift to him was the tickets.
Then I am headed back to good old Ft. Stewart for work on Monday
Re: What do you have planned for your Thanksgiving week?
DH and I are flying out Thursday morning (6am) to Phoenix, AZ from Kansas. My parents, brother and a ton of friends all live out there and we lived there for years. On Thanksgiving a large group of family and friends, about 25 people, get together at my brother's house and have a huge feast. When I lived there I was in charge of ALL the cooking since our friends are mostly guys but now that I've moved away they have taken over. From what I've heard they do a darn good job so I'm looking forward to them cooking for me for once.
It's actually a surprise visit, no one knows that DH and I are coming. It should be so much fun to see the look on their faces when we walk through the door. I know my parents will be thrilled, I just talked to my mom yesterday and she was saying how sad she was we wouldn't be together, hahaha, little does she know we WILL all be together. Surprises are so fun.
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Enjoy and indulge;-)
