It went really well. The labor rooms are really nice. My DH is so happy all the rooms have TV's and high speed internet and a nourishment kitchen full of drinks and snacks and bagels etc for the moms and dads. They said that they no longer just offer the moms ice chips that they want them to eat and drink as long as medically they are able too. Yay, we won't need change for the vending machines. They also have Jacuzzi's and birthing balls in each of the rooms. They have rocking chairs and lazy boys in the rooms and cots. During labor you will be assigned one nurse that will stay with you the entire time. They will keep the baby there with you the entire time unless you ask them to take the baby to the nursery. The post op rooms have hair dryers, fridge, lazy boy, a cot, showers, they are nice.
We got to see 2 babies in the nursery! They were so sweet. One of them was having their blood drawn and he screamed for a few seconds and then stopped. My son will have to have 3 good blood sugar tests done, Crying or Very sad Normally you are kept 24 hours unless you have Strep B then they keep you 48 hours and for a c-section 3 nights. We got lots of good info. They also gave us a list of what we need to bring.

Things are starting to come together now. I am scared but ready to meet my LO.

Sounds like more of a hotel than a hospital!

Man...that sounds pretty nice! Our hospital birthing rooms were great too. We have jacuzzi tubs, recliners, TV, but not sure about the internet. The room was HUGE...I was really surprised. They have come a long way in 10 yrs.

wow that sounds really great! At least they'll help you feel a little pampered as you are staying there.

Preggo brain? Shame on your Amy...lol. I have preggro brain all the time.

I am due March 1st. My OB has said if I go into labor now he won't be stopping it. He thinks we are still looking at another 3 weeks. This Friday at my appt I am going to ask if I need another ultrasound to make sure the baby isn't too big. I run that risk with having the GD. Hopefully he is right where he needs to be size wise and I can have a vaginal delivery. I am thankful to be having him at such a nice hospital. Me and my sisters were all born at this hospital!

Sounds like very nice accomidations!

Our's is pretty nice, it was built in '94 and I've had all of my kids there. They remodeled the maternity floor in '04, it was going on while I was there. I haven't asked about any differences, I was hoping they'd put in tubs. I was in a L&D room for my NST on Monday, no tub. Oh well.

The hospital room you saw sounds like the one I was in. It had a fridge, whirlpool tub, internet, tv, ect. I was glad they also had the nutrition room for me and dh as he and Lana ate things out of there when they were visiting. He didnt have to spend any money to eat. Im glad that hospitals are changing their labor and delivery rooms to make you feel more relaxed.

That is great Dee. Our hospital has LDR rooms so we never change rooms, which I like. However a Lazy Boy would be nice, we have a hospital grade recliner, I recall having to put a pillow down on it to make myself more comfortable, but I had just passed a watermelon out of my region, so that wasn't surprising Smile

I always thought the reason they didn't want people to eat or drink was because if they had to rush you in for a C-Section they would want your stomach to be empty. They told me today at my appointment that I can't have anything after midnight the night before because I am being induced and have to be at the hospital at 6:45am...those ice chips did taste like heaven though...amen.
