Is it just me and my hormones or are people just not as excited about the 2nd + kids? I'm excited, don't get me wrong, but it seems like everyone else is like, "Oh, another baby? That's nice." I will admit that it's a little harder for me to get excited this time around, but I think it's just because I'm so busy with my 2 year old. Plus I had a m/c last september and it's taken me a little longer to bond. I guess I'm just a little disappointed that people aren't jumping up and down and turning cartwheels like I think they should scratch

Isnt it sad? I get all teary and jump up and down when someone announces their pg. A baby is a blessing no matter what the situation is. I know what your talking about. Trying telling parents that your pg with #8! I already have two "friends" not talking to me the same since i got pg this time around. I try to not let it bother me... You know we are all excited for you!

lol! Yeh, I can only image with #8 that other's excitement has somewhat dwindled. It's really sad, but as long as we're happy that's really all that matters.

I also think part of it is that once you have one child, people just automatically assume you will have a second within a few years. It's like they knew you'd have another anyway, so there isn't that excitement and surprise.

Now, I'm experiencing a totally different reaction with my 3rd, and I think it's because of just the opposite. Once you have two, people pretty much assume that you're "done". I got alot of the same reactions when I told about my 3rd pregnancy as when I told people about my first.

Unfortunately, the more you have the less the excitement of others. This will be #5 for us, not a lot of people know yet. When we had #4, we probably got only about 1/3 of the amount of cards for him than we did for #1. Relatives didn't even send congratulations cards when he was born. Absolutely pathetic, imo. A child is a blessing, whether #1 or #12.

I am getting this a lot. I think part of it is my fault for having them so close together. When my husband's grandmother was told that we are expecting our 2nd, her response was "Well, that's their problem." Makes me sad. I just hope that everyone is excited when the baby arrives.

Its the same here too, I have been wondering if this one is a boy if the reactions will change, since he will be different than our DD, but I am doubting it. My girlfriend is due in a few weeks with her second and she has said the same thing. I think another reason could be people are focused on our friends that have yet to have their first or are trying for their first. We have a close friend that is having a lot of trouble getting pregnant (2+ years) and so everyone is quiet around us pregnant girls now, no one wants to talk about the babies for fear it will hurt her feelings, which I totally understand, but I think that just adds to it.

I have to admit though, our parents are thrilled. My parents are researching a mini-van for their "grandchildren"...they love telling people they will have grandchildren, instead of a grandchild. And my MIL and FIL are adorable about it too, they have been bragging to everyone about it, they have 3 granddaughters now, so if this one is a boy I know it will send them over the moon.

At least we all have each other!! I am PUMPED for all of you!!!
