My 21 month old just started doing that. Just today she took it off 4 times before noon. She dont do it if she has pants or shorts on. She hasnt learned to take off her pants yet.

I was lucky my kids really didn't do this often, but I have a friend who's dd was a pro at it. She put the diaper on and then duct tape around the top.

If a big deal is made about it.. they will think its a game.. so try not to put extra attention to the diaper or the baby.. its a phase and should pass soon. Did you try the backwards idea?

When my children starting taking their diapers off I bought them some underwear and a potty. It was potty training time

Re: Ripping diaper off stage...HELP
I think every child is different with my son I started at around 20 months because he was taking off his pampers when he did number 2. Meaning that he didn't want it on him. I was also a stay at home mother so I would just let him wear underwear and introduced him to the potty. He really liked his underwear .
With my daughter she was a little after 2 when she started taking off her diapers. And that was when we started doing the potty. It was harder with her because I was working and the person that was watching her would put her on diapers which I didn't mind because potty training can be very stressful with my own child let alone someone else's.
I wasn't suggesting you start potty training him. Do it when you feel like his is ready.

Re: Ripping diaper off stage...HELP
How I did it was let him run around in underwear. Every two hours I would bring him to the potty and tell him what he needs to do. If he didn't do anything in 5 minutes I would take him off and just kept asking him if he had to use the potty. With wearing the underwear it was easier for him to know if he made a accident. Because pee running down your leg just doesn't feel right.
For him it was easier for him to go to the potty to do Number 2. But peeing was kinda a fight. My mama told me to let him see daddy pee, because I was telling him to sit down to pee. Well after letting him see how his daddy did it he liked doing that.
I remember sitting down watching TV and he told me "mama, potty". I brought him to the bathroom and he was standing up peeing! I thought is was sooo cute I started crying and calling and telling all of my friends. Of course they thought I was crazy but it was so cute. A lady at job said she would but cheerios in the toilet and tell her son to sink the cheerios!!!

what I did
I put diapers on backwards and that worked for 2 days. Then I put clothes on backwards (with the zippers).Next I duct taped. Seriously, duct tape all around so they couldn't get the tabs. I just had to keep sissors with the diapers for a while. After about 2 weeks I went without and they stopped doing it.
I think my oldest started potty training around 20 mo, but only b/c the day care person had 3 other boys to go with him and it turned into a compitition. my 2 girls started aroung 24 mo and it took them a while. They didn't have the day care lady who was a saint!
