Has anyone ever gone to one of these Meal Preperation Kitchens? I am thinking of getting a week's worth of meals right before my due date to keep in the freezer when I have the baby. We have one called Dream Dinners near my house.

FYI- I am always the one to make a big tray of lasagna for any of my friends when they have a baby...but none of my friends are good cooks like I am...and i am afraid I will be spending the first week at home with my baby eating taco bell.

yes, my hubby and I did it once... it worked out pretty well, and we ate all the meals we made. they were pretty good overall, some recipes better than others. we only did it once, so it didn't really stick with us, but I do think it would serve you well for when baby arrives. my DH is the cook in our house, so I fully expect to be spoiled with yummy meals when baby arrives. queen ha ha

I would plan to do it fairly close to your DD, because like anything involving frozen raw meat/chicken/fish, the meals are better if frozen for less time...

This is a really good idea! I think I might do the same! After have dd every time someone came over and they asked if they could bring anything I always told them to bring food. I ended up with 6 dozen cookies! You'd be so surprised how you just don't have time/energy to cook for yourself in the days after having a baby. A freezer stocking party is also a good idea if you have friends and family that cook. I have neither apparently! LOL

I have a friend who did Dream Dinners for her family for several months and they were really happy with it until they got tired of eating the same things over and over again. She gave me a couple of meals and DH and I really enjoyed them. I hadn't thought about doing it for when the baby comes, but that's a great idea! Thanks!

yes, sharing it would be a good idea, because there are minimum packages you have to buy... and we did get tired of the meals along the way a bit... as I recall, we had at least 3 packages of each meal, maybe 4? plus, it's a little on the expensive side (still better than eating out, of course), so sharing meals and cost would be a good thing

i used to help out a senior citizen park and they had these meals as well. The program they used would give them a menu a week in advance and would only repeat food about every 3 weeks. i thought it was good.

this is a great idea for me!! my wife does not cook and do not want to be living off fast food either while i'm at home. Our families don't really come over with made food, they bring food and want to cook at the mom's house which is fine but i'm not cleaning!! I dont want to sound bratty and request certain foods when anybody asks what should they bring, but i dont want to be stuck with 6 dozen cookies either.
