Unmotivated at Work
I have a ton to do, but no motivation to do it. I think I'm finally over the morning sickness, and I'm not dying of exhaustion all day, but I just want to read about pregnancy and check our boards every 5 seconds! It's like a bad case of senioritis, knowing that there are only 5 and a half months until I can go on leave.
How is everyone else coping?

I'm the same way....I don't do ANYTHING at work. Such a shame, but I'm not that busy. I do everything right before I'm about to leave for the day LOL. The rest of my day is spent on here or other pregnancy websites. So sad....but I can't help it!

Re: Unmotivated at Work
OMG I am LMAS. I spend so much of my day on these boards and looking up baby info and baby names. I work 8:30 to 5:30 and I am on here a lot during those times. I can't help it. I work in realestate and it is sooooo slow right now.
Re: Unmotivated at Work
Like I needed more reason to be wishing for my leave to start...
One of the owners came into my office this morning to tell me that people are "bent out of shape" that I'm wearing tennis shoes at work. I follow the dress code much better than most people here except for the shoes. It's icy or wet here all winter, and I'm not going to take the chance of falling. She said that people don't think me being pregnant is a good enough excuse, so I'm going to get a note from my midwife. What is wrong with people?

I can't believe that they are complaining about your shoes!!!!! Have any of them been pregnant before? They are lucky you aren't showing up in flip-flops. I think that you should get a doctors/midwife note. If I wear any sort of regular shoe I swell up in a couple of minutes. It is all about comfort!

Well, I actually wore flip flops today but then again it's suppose to be 80 degrees today. I really don't care what they say.
Re: Unmotivated at Work
Amen, sisters!!
I couldn't believe she was actually saying what she was saying. She had two difficult pregnancies that she was on long-term bedrest for, so you'd think she'd understand. She said it was fine to get a note and that it would make it easier to explain to the complainers. I'm going to blow up a copy of the note, tape it to the wall outside my office with a note: "I'm following my doctor's orders, but thank you for your kind understanding (A-holes!)."
Either that or email a scanned copy to everyone on staff and tell them that if they have any more issues with me being pregnant, maybe they could sack up and talk to me directly.
Okay...deep breaths...

Re: Unmotivated at Work
I lost my job in August and haven't been able to find employment. Not even temp employment.
So, there's a silver lining on both sides. I think if I was still at my job I would feel the same way... but after watching the savings deplete and wondering what the future holds, I'd be thrilled to have a job right now, because unemployment doesn't pay the bills.
So, hang in there... save your $$... and enjoy your maternity when it gets here. It will be sooner than you know it!

Good lord people are RIDICULOUS. Screw them and the high horse they think they live on. You're pregnant and you need to do whats best & safest for you and your LO. I think the DR note (& posted) idea is great. It'll give all those d-bags something more to stew about..

Yeah, I have been lacking lately too at my place of employment. But I was never really "go getter" type pf employee anyway. So whatev. I am in school right now too, so that is more important to me than, answering phones.

Re: Unmotivated at Work
Ok first your co-workers are ASSHOLES.
Second make sure your note from your OB/Midwife also says you can wear slippers Even gym shoes can make you swell.
Third it is 20 outside right now and snowing, but guess what I wore to Kroger 5 minutes ago. FLIP FLOPS I love my flops. My feet are so swollen that those are the only things that fit. Well my gym shoes do, but I can not reach to tie them anymore.

DUDE!! That is an AWESOME suggestion. I have these big fuzzy green ones that I'd love to sport around with my business wear. Effers...
I'll give them that note up front so they can't even say anything.
Re: Unmotivated at Work
My dog (Cocker Spaniel) that I have had since I was 8 years old died this morning. I feel like I just lost my best friend. My heart is broken. I knew it was going to happen soon but knowing really didn't make it any easier. I loved that dam dog so much and now she is gone. I keep crying when I think about her and I have a terrible headache. I hate it that I have to stay at work and the day seams to be going by so slow. I will be glad when 5:30 comes so I can go home!!!!!!
I know it must seam silly to a lot of you because “It is just a dog” but she has been a big part of my life for the last 17 years. Well, I guess that is it…..thanks for listening.

Re: Unmotivated at Work
I'm so sorry. Losing a pet IS losing a family member. She had a long life, remember the good times with her. (((hugs)))

Re: Unmotivated at Work
So sorry to hear that! They are most certainly family members and it's not silly at all. My husband's childhood dog (he'd had since he was like 8 ) died the first year after he graduated college. I had to coerce him into finally getting another one, at the ripe ol age of 27, because he thought it couldn't ever take the place of his Cindi. Of course, now he loves our Roxy even more. Anyway, sending our thoughts your way...

Re: Unmotivated at Work
Oh my gosh, that is totally NOT silly at all! Pets really are family members. I have two 8 year old cats and I already get sad thinking that I probably only have 4 or 5 more years with them. I'm so sorry for your loss, and I hope today goes really fast so you can get home.
Re: Unmotivated at Work
I am so sorry to hear about your dog. They are family members thats for sure. I have 3 furbabies and they are my kids. I have lost one dog and it was the hardest thing ever. Time will help. I found a memorial picture frame at Pet smart that I put her picture in and her tags. Just a thought of something you might like to do for her.

I am really sorry about losing your dog. WoW! Your dog sure lived a long life! I am one of those freaky people who treats their dog like a human. I totally understand! Your dog was lucky to have a great family like yours.
