Who's still working full time?
Pardon me while I complain a little but this week everything hit me. I'm completely exhausted due to being up all night itching. As soon as I get to work, the extreme swelling sets in. I have a desk job, but the ergonomics just don't agree with me. My ankles are swollen to the point of not being able to bend them. The sciatic pain from sitting in this stupid chair hits me hard when I have to get up to use the bathroom, which is a bit of a hike from my desk. 3 of the fingers on my right hand are completely numb and make it really hard to make magic with my mouse. Not to mention it's dry and hot as hell in here and I'm wondering when I'll catch one of the 10 different illnesses that everyone seems to have. I have a doc's appt. today and am hoping he can write me some sort of note. I'm absolutely miserable. Am I just a whiner or is anyone else feeling my pain?
Re: Who's still working full time?
I'm with you!!! I'm working full time, too, and it sucks!!!!!!!!! I was wishing the doc would put me on bedrest "just because"... you should definitely ask your doc about it! Women who work up to delivery have a much higher risk for C Section... try that angle with your doc.
Good luck!! Gotta go get ready for work now...

I'm with you girls! This week the whining and miserableness (if that's a word) definitely hit a whole new level. Besides all the symptoms and lack of sleep, my clothes don't fit. Thank goodness I have a range from small to x-large (my sister, SIL and I have had 6 kids in 3 years so we share :-), but the x-large shirts are starting to show my belly. Guess that's what gaining 50 pounds will do to you EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE is stopping me to tell me how huge I am, which has made me just shut my office door for almost the entire day every day. I'm about ready to put a sign up on it saying "Beware! Extremely miserable pregnant bitch inside!" I don't really care about my firm's policy...next week is it! I don't know how I'll make it through today, nevermind through next Friday, but I guess I'll have to. We just have to hang in there a little longer, even though it feels like forever!
Re: Who's still working full time?
I am also still working full time.. 45 hours a week... Part of the day I'm at a desk, the other part of the day I'm making home visits of families I work with. Some of these homes have stairs that are 3-4 stories high, some have horrible icey driveways & sidewalks.. some have no driveway/walkway at all... Then once I get inside the home, sometimes there's no place to sit, sometimes you would rather NOT sit.. sometimes the homes smell horribly of smoke.. The swelling has gone to an entire new level. My shoes hardly fit my feet anymore.. I also have the numbing of my right fingers.. Then the desk aspect of it.. my hoohaa hurts so badly that I stand up from this chair and I feel like my bones down below are going to snap into pieces. My back hurts from having a non-comfy chair...
Oh my.. lol... Now that I've just complained my heart out.. I've got some paperwork to catch up on..lol.
I don't know where that all just came from.. you had to go and ask who was still working full time, didn't you!
I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about this -- if the DR pulls me out of work before my due date (the original plan was to work until DR pulled me or my water broke..lol) will that start my 6 -8 weeks of short term disability? And then after that 6 or 8 weeks is up (even if I dont have a baby for 4 more weeks), do I go without disability payments?? Or is it extended because I went out before I had baby? Any idea?

I'm still working too...right up until 3/10 with c-section on 3/12. Only reason I'm not working on 3/11 is I have to have blood work done or else I'd be here. 9 days of work to go!

I am still working (in home day care) until the Thursday before I go in for a c/s. It is ok since I still have to take and pick up my son from school anyways. I count my job (Stay at home/child care) as a "real job " because I am cleaning all day and don't get to relax much. So far, so good but the last week will be the toughest! If I don't work I don't get paid and I have no maternity leave pay.

I'm still working full-time also! And its starting to really suck. Monday I was in so much pain I couldn't even sit on my office chair. And I'm starting to get the "You haven't had that baby yet?" remarks. I'm not due till March 11th!
My last day is March 5th...I'm just trying to hold on till then.

next week is my last week of working also. I so need it i'm feel like i need to take a nap at my desk by 11 and i start work at 10. next friday can not come soon enough, but the worst part is that i have so much to do btw this week and next that i am worried, but today i just don’t think i'm going to do anything. last week was HELL, the children i work w/ were on school vacation so i had them from 8am-6pm, and most of my staff were still in class ( i work w/ a lot of college students) so i had a ton of children and staff that trickled in after their classes. I READY TO BE HOME. thank you for letting me complain i needed it.

Re: Who's still working full time?
I am still working fulltime too, and I am SO JEALOUS of those who are done soon.
Sarina...I am in Arizona, but here STD does not start until you have that baby, or until your Dr. writes you off on STD. I asked my dr. about it and I was told I have a to have an actual 'medical diagnosis' to be off....not just 'because I am tired of being pregnant.'
I work in a hospital on a behavioral health unit. I am up and down out of my chair up and down the unit all day. Everytime I get out of my chair I think I am going to pee myself and have to run to the bathroom. As of today I only have 27 hours of vacation time, so I am going to have to work until the end. Thinking about it makes me want to cry

I knew I wasn't the only one!!! Thank you to all of you for not making me feel like a whiner! I'm thinking if I'm having lots of contractions and fatigue, perhaps that's enough to get him to put me on bedrest. I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes!
Everyone sounds like they're having a tough time too which is a relief! Sorry girls, misery LOVES company LOL (j/k). But Sarina - yours in particular (especially knowing the problems you've had with swelling and UTI for a long while now), I really don't know how you do it girl. You're a champ.

I worked up until the last minute...water broke at work, and I can definately sympathize with you ladies! The last couple of weeks, the nerve pain was a pain, swelling was horrible, all the common aches and pains. I work in a doctor's office as the nurse, so I was constantly on my feet! The people that came in my office got on my damn nerves and the people who work there got on my nerves....mostly because they did dumb stuff, like overbooking the hell out of us! I hate that even when I am NOT pregnant! The sick people...I wanted to wear a mask over my face, etc. I feel your pain ladies!!! Hang in there...not much longer! I wish I could have gotten a few days off before having Alyssa. I had so much stuff I wanted to do and didn't get too because she snuck up on us! My advice....take the time off. Enjoy some quiet days at home and get all your ducks in a row before the baby comes! I am doing my stuff now when Alyssa is sleeping!

Re: Who's still working full time?
Sarina, my midwife wrote me a note off of work "due to the discomforts of pregnancy" and that is enough for me to start getting STD early (and I'll still get the full 6-8 weeks postpartum too). My midwife did mention that if my job were to request my file and see that I have no serious medical conditions they could choose to not pay my STD or even fire me from my job. Since I'm not going back, I don't really care, but something to think about. I sent in the paperwork to HR and haven't heard anything back (and that was a week ago), so I guess I'll see if I get a check in the next week or not!
Hang in there ladies. I was planning to work until mid-March (due 3/28) but last week was my breaking point. I'm really impressed that you're still pushing on!
