Birth Announcements
So ladies, with my DD I had them all picked out, the address labels on them by this time (they ship the envelops early), but I haven't picked one out for this little darling. With my DD I created them on www.instylecards.com, and I love all the options on Tinyprints.com, but its a bit $$$. I wanted to see if anyone had checked into it and if they had other sites to consider.
Re: Birth Announcements
So I just realized that Costco has some options...we just ordered our Holiday Cards from Costco, very affordable and cute options, the baby ones aren't as cute, but for affordable options there are some options.
Re: Birth Announcements
I was just thinking about this the other day. I don't have any suggestions yet. I just started looking into it. I am curious to see what everyone else is doing.

I have never done the cards. I think I might with this one since it is the last. Not sure yet. I have looked at Walmart and they have some cute cards for .33 each.

We just did our holiday cards on Shutterfly.com and I'm considering doing the birth announcements through them as well...

I love love love all the cards on this site...but once again, I guess they're kind of expensive. But, if you're stingey like me, you're not sending out very many anyway...

Re: Birth Announcements
I made my DD's on Shutterfly. They were ok, but I want something different this time. I was thinking tinyprints, but like you said, they're kinda pricey. I just did our Christmas cards at www.vistaprint.com. At first glance, their stuff seems kind of boring and plain, BUT you have complete control over font, colors, pictures, etc. I actually selected a design for our Christmas cards that didn't include a place for a photo, but because their software is so flexible, I was able to insert one on the front and it looked AMAZING! Plus you can have them printed on different types of paper (glossy, matte, linen, etc.). I've already done a mock up for Owen's announcements!

I want to do these rock and roll announcements http://www.rattle-n-roll.com/html/shop2.html
but my husband wants to do something more traditional.

Re: Birth Announcements
GAMommy - I LOVE VistaPrint, I do everything through them. I hope you get all the "FREE PRODUCT" e-mails, their deals are amazing. I have looked there, but haven't found a Little Girl one I like.
Re: Birth Announcements
MillerWifey - those are actually not too bad, only $1.25 per card is much cheaper than others I have seen, some are $2.49 per card. However at Costco its like .29 per card, so it doesn't really compare...especially when I have to send out 100+. INSANE isn't it? I was thinking of doing just 20 nice ones so I have one, and ordering some cheap ones for everyone else, is that bad?
Re: Birth Announcements
For my first 3 dc, I ordered traditional announcements and then put a picture with them. I don't remember the name of the company. For my 4th dc, I decided to do something different. I ordered the folded cards from shutterfly. I put a really cute pic on the front and used the it's a boy style, which was pretty plain, but it turned out really cute. All his info went inside.
I'm not sure yet what we'll do this time. I just ordered Christmas cards from walmart.com and picked them up 1 hour in store. They use the same designs and web program as snapfish (which I use for everything else) but they cost almost half of what snapfish does. I may check out the folded cards thru them. My dh is a manager at wm, so I also get 10% off.

I look around at sites for various ideas and then I just make my own on Publisher. You can right click on all of the pictures/text boxes/etc. and save them all together as one picture, then upload to wherever (Walmart, Costco, etc.) and order them as regular pictures. That works unless you want them on linen paper, something other than glossy or matte photo paper. This way you have complete control over everything. PLus, if you want to use really great fonts that aren't on most computers already, go to www.dafont.com and you can download all kinds of stuff.
Re: Birth Announcements
I'm going to design my own at 4x6 size, save it as a jpeg and print it on matte paper at costo like I would any other photos. I did this for my wedding and they turned out great.
Re: Birth Announcements
We didn't send out Christmas cards this year but will be sending out a photocard w/ a letter after baby is born as an update and baby announcement. I usually order the photo cards from Snapfish.

Re: Birth Announcements
I totally forgot about doing this once the baby is born. Thanks for reminding me. I am horrible about keeping addresses and am keeping all of the envelopes from Christmas cards sent to us so I can save the important peoples addresses. I will be lucky if I remember to send them out by the time the baby is 8 weeks. Really, I am bad with this stuff.

Re: Birth Announcements
Shannon - don't worry about it, people understand if you don't get the baby ones out on time, they realize you are busy being a new mommy. I always send out an e-mail to everyone in my e-mail address book asking them for any updates to their mailing address at least once a year, that way I just save the responses...
Re: Birth Announcements
Great idea! Someday I will get organized.Maybe I will be forced to with another addition to the family!
