Good question. For some reason I think I remember reading that you have to have a gift receipt in order to return. Maybe you can still get store credit?

Re: store return policy
Marie,
I found this here at the Babies R Us Website
THE BABIES"R"US RETURN POLICY
For purchases made in any Babies"R"Us store in the U.S.:
We will gladly accept returns on merchandise within 90 days of the original purchase date. Items must be returned in original packages with all parts and manuals included.
FOR RETURNS WITHOUT A RECEIPT:
* If the original payment was made with a credit or debit card, we can look up your purchase using our register system and credit your account.
* If the item was purchased from a baby registry, we can look up the purchase using our baby registry system and issue a merchandise credit.
* A driver's license or other valid identification is required to process all returns without a receipt.
* We reserve the right to decline returns without a receipt.
It sounds like you can try and return it. But notice the last sentence in that they reserve the right to refuse the return...so I would try it and see what happens.
Good Luck

I've heard that you can add the items to your registry, mark them as purchased, and then you can get credit for the items when you take them back to BRU. I'm not sure how you feel about doing that, but since you're not scamming them, it would basically be the same as if you had the receipt. Good luck!
Re: store return policy
thanks ladies i am going to put on my registry in case they wont let me return it out right. I am fine with getting store credit seeing as I will probably be buying more things from them anyway.

Re: store return policy
I had to return a few things that were not on my registry- without a reciept, and they just asked me for my drivers license. I was also purchasing a video monitor and glider ottoman at the same time- so i think it wasnt worth it to them to fight over $6.99 crib sheets. On previous returns, I just added them to my registry and marked them as purchased- then returned and didnt have a problem- except for the 1 thing they didnt carry in their store (but you cant really blame them for that)
