Affordable yet comfy Glider Recommendations? Empty Affordable yet comfy Glider Recommendations?

Post  LGTWifey Sat Dec 27, 2008 10:31 am

So ladies, with Olivia we bought a very nice glider from Little Castle, it was expensive, and while we love it, our financial situation isn't the same...so we need a cheaper alternative. But we still want a similiar style, one that looks like a real chair, not a rocking chair...I hope the URL below works and you can see what I am talking about...

We found one at Wal-Mart Online, you have to buy the slipcover separately, and of course Pink is out of stock right now, and while we can wait, or even have another slipcover made for it, I am nervous to buy a chair that I haven't sat it, what if its awful and I would rather sit on nails? Its def cheap...which I love, but my parents are going to get us the glider for our Shower Present, so I feel bad coming to them with an $800 glider (Little Castle), and my Mom doesn't want to buy the Wal-Mart one because she is afraid I will hate it since I haven't tried it out, so I am looking for some suggestions...I am going to check out USA Baby and Babies R Us this weekend, but I was hoping you ladies might have some suggestions or at least afforadable brand names I could research.

I dont know if this is any help at all.. but yesterday when we were in BRU, there was this adorable glider (in the style you're looking for) for $300. It was white.. and that's about all I know about it. I dont know the brand or anything of the sort, because we are getting the one that looks like a rocking chair (posted a pic below of ours)... But that's definitely cheaper than $800!!

Good Luck Smile

Thanks!! We are hoping to find one at Babies R Us...we are guessing that will be cheaper than USA Baby...

Do you know if the BRU coupons work on Furniture?

Sarina, is the $300 for just the glider, or for the glider and ottoman combo?

The one in the picture is NOT the one for $300 from BRU. The one in the picture is the one we are getting ($160 for both).. but I dont know if the $300 one from BRU included an ottomon or not. Sorry!!

I went to BRU tonight...no luck. You can't special order colors on the type we want, so no luck.

Sarina, I have the same one, only in yellow gingham! The seat isn't very comfy (maybe it just needs to be broke in) but the back feels great.

I would recommend using it as much as possible before the LO arrives, our glider wasn't super comfy either at first, but now its like HEAVEN...

I have never had a glider. You all are making me think I really need one! Maybe i will check out Craigslist. Off to bring the kids to the mall/movies.

I got my glider for Christmas...it's not the color I wanted but it's beautiful. I'll take a pic today but its similar to the one in the picture above but its a dark wood with a brown seat...it'll set off in the baby's room nice.

Anyway, it's super comfy and I love it!!! And it seems Matthew really likes the motion because he kicks me when I'm gliding!

Have you tried looking on Craigslist? There are a bunch on C-list where I live. You can get a Dutalier for $200-$300!

So, I just read in the Baby Bargains Book that the Wal-Mart Glider we were looking at got GREAT reviews, and its an amazing price. We are not crazy about the slipcover options, but for that price, I could easily pick out fabric and have someone make me a slipcover...JACKPOT.
