I haven't started on anything... Neutral

I am so unprepared. If we're lucky, my boyfriend and I will be out of this hellhole (pardon me) in January. It's been really tough, and we're basically going to be relying on family to buy everything for us, which is really depressing...

We don't have anything either... I am so impressed that you are almost there. I am actually waiting until the shower so I can buy whatever else I need... I know we will be buying our crib from BRU but if we wait we will receive a discount on it after the shower. I do have a bassinet that my SIL gave me but that's it!

There are some perks to being an older mommy! All of my friends are finished having kids and were more than willing to pawn off their baby stuff on me. The only thing we bought was paint for the room.

Because I bought all new stuff I have plenty to give away... first off.. I have enough boy clothes to supply triplets.. i have a couple bouncy seats, a pink bassinet, a bumbo with tray (i might use but i'd rather a pink one!), a couple crib bedding sets maybe even a few, a boppy pillow, oh gosh if i thought about it i could keep going..

On the crib bedding, stroller, car seat, high chair, portacrib, swing, diaper bag and baskets i paid $550 i think. Plus i have bought maybe $200 worth of clothes so far. I still want a pink bathtub, pink bouncy seat, lots of pink toys/rattles, pink/brown boppy pillow, and diapers. Oh i need little shoes and hair accessories. Mine are typically born with a good amount of hair. But most of these things i dont need until after the baby is here. Cause ill steal tons of diapers. Smile

As we were finishing the baby room yesterday, I said to my husband, thank goodness we are having another boy. We kept a few items of clothing and bedroom accessories. It would have been a different story if we were having a girl. Then, we would be spending a lot of money getting "girlified"! We lucked out. Now we can eat and clothe ourselves for years to come.

You are a bargain shopper like no other...I bow to you.

I thought I had some bargain shopping skills, but you put me to shame. $2.00 per sheet, are you kidding me? I bought my LO a waste basket from Babies R Us on clearance for $6.99 and I wanted to give myself a medal. I never pay full price, but never find those deals...our bedding was on sale at PBK, but I still probably spent $130+ just on that and I just got a changing pad cover today at PBK for $9.99 and again wanted to shout my praises from the rooftops, but again you have knocked me down a few thousand pegs. Well done!!!

We had to buy all new furniture for this LO and my parents are going to get us a glider and ottoman for a shower present (so generous huh?). I went through my DD's clothes today, hoping I would have a lot to "hand down" to this one, but since my DD was a July baby it just doesn't seem to be working out so well, all her clothes are summer-ish...

It is finally looking like a nursery in there! I will post the pics of my bargain nursery when it's complete. My PBK order should be here Wednesday.

Because we had no furniture, we have spent close to $1500 on everything so far. HOWEVER, I got the bedding from Ebay for $52 shipped as well as the crib canopy for $20. I picked up wall letters for $1.50 a letter! A wooden butterfly wall hanging for $20 (hobby lobby had a 50% off sale!) Mom is making the curtains. I picked up a brand new boppy pillow for $8 at a garage sale. I still need mesh butterflies and a couple of shelves.

How much have you spent on your nursery? Empty Re: How much have you spent on your nursery?

I have no idea...

I've spent $500 on our crib/changing table/dresser combo. Around $150 for the bedding. Another $100 for the crib mattress. $60 for a rug (which is way too small, but we haven't found a replacement yet). $40 for a bookshelf. $100-ish for accessories (lamp, light switch cover, mobile, etc). $80-ish on a Baby Bjorn. $55 for a deluxe snuggle nest (for cosleeping). And probably like $200 or $300 on clothes, towels, socks, washcloths, etc. $50-ish on wall decorations (tropical fish calendar pages framed with colorful ocean words, and light up seashells and a seahorse from Ikea). Oh, and like $500 on books at Costco - they have all kinds of Dr Seuss and Baby Einstein and other books that my DH couldn't resist buying.

So I guess we've spent more than I thought! Smile And we still haven't figured out a glider yet...

But other than that, I think we're pretty set already. My Dad bought our car seat for us, so I think we're good when the baby comes. Doh! Except for diapers...I need to sign up for the diaper service here so that I don't have to worry about it.

I have a feeling I'm about to kick my nesting into high gear!

I can't single out just my nursery costs, but all baby related stuff (including breast pumps, diaper bags and the like) has cost around $1200 so far (despite buying several items used). This is our first (and last) so we had to pony out the cash for furniture. We still need a jogging stroller, baby carrier, breastfeeding pillow, perhaps an exersaucer and health and safety stuff. I'm hoping the shower takes care of that stuff Smile

Just the furniture for us was $1400 smackers..

Lisa I laughed, $500 on books...we did the same thing, bought lots of books, and one of my showers asked the guests to all bring a book, so we ended up with one trillion books and guess what...our DD HATES books...she is just now starting to pick them up and look through them, but she is 17M old, she should have been wanting to marry them months ago, but no such luck. My Aunt even gave her a romper for Christmas that says "Read me a Story" on it, because the standing joke in my family is to NOT buy this child a book...

All my DH brought to our relationship (stuff-wise) was books. He doesn't get attached to any "thing" except books. So he's already figured that our little guy will be the same. We'll see. I loved reading until I had to for school, and I've never regained that love. I read on vacation (mostly trashy romance novels!) still, but hardly any other time. So we will see!

That is an absolutely fantastic idea!! I think I will drop a GIANT hint on my mom & sisters for my shower. Although, your DD ending up hating books is not fun.. but I still think the book to a shower.. favorite children's book, etc, is a GREAT idea! Thanks for sharing that!!

for my first on the invite it asked in lou of a card to bring your fave kids book. they dont have to write it in, cuz you might get a few of the same. I got a tone of books (maybe 20 or so). plus a card is about the same price of a book, a book will last longer. Smile

i havent spent that much. he doesnt have a room, we have a 2 bed apt and we are not moving until the summer. so i wont buy anything yet. its been hard. but i got a boppy for 5 bucks on craigslist and ive bought a few clothes and bottles. next month we are buying the carseat but i have a gift card so i think we will only spend 50-60 on that. and maybe a new double stroller? i think total ive spend 60.00. i found a bassiet i want on craislist for 65.00 i was going to talk her down to 50.00 but if i dont get that i already have a pack n play he will sleep in.
