Personal question for all you mothers out there
OK, so we all really only have about 3 months to go. And I know its gonna be crazy but I really want to know how crazy! So, I was wondering how many of you mothers have actually *ahem* pooed while on the table. And what you can do to TRY to avoid it lol. I told DH if i am going to he has to leave the room cause I dont want him remembering that part of the birth. But how many women actually do it? ANothing thing, hemmeroids. I know I am DREADING all these nasty things. I dont want them when I have this beautiful little baby and i ahve to worry about me hurting down there! But its a part of life I know. I just wondered how many women it actually happens to. My MIL SWEARS it didnt happen with either of her kids. My mom had c-section with all 4 of hers. But honestly, when you are pushing that hard, its enevitable right????

Re: Personal question for all you mothers out there
i did poop on the table....i was in labor for 4 days but not dialating so they kept sending me home telling me dont eat, don eat...if you do eat jello...well finally it came time to stay at the hospital and then time to push and i pooped and i had nothing in me...while pushing i said can you get him out so i can have a steak and some potatoes..i was starving!!! i did not get hemrroids either...but i only pushed for 2.5 hours and then i had to have a c-section.
just wanted to add...my dh was not really grossed out...he thought he would be and didnt even want to look while i pushed and when the time came he was so into it and wanted to see...he actually told me you just pooped...i said i know i can feel the nurse wiping me...HAHA

Not that I'm of any help, but I'm scared of pooping on the table too. I've mentioned it to my hubby and he thinks I'm being silly. I have a feeling that once we're actually in the moment, that will be the last thing on our minds...Or at least I hope so!
Re: Personal question for all you mothers out there
My best friend pooped...she screamed "OH SHIT" and the doctor responded..."yes you did"...her husband said the nurse had it cleaned up in less than 3 seconds. They are super fast about that. I am making DH stay up next to me and not look at my who-ha.

I've heard it's practically impossible NOT to poop when the head comes out because it basically squishes that area like a toothpaste tube! I'm not excited about it at all, but it does help to know that I won't be the first or last to do it.
Kboogie, I've heard that too -- that the nurses take care of it super fast. I hope that's true! What a great job.

The nurses are ready and waiting for the poop. It reminds me of the Youtube water birth video, the mw had the little pooper scooper fishing net ready and scooped her poop. The mom kinda glanced over and kept doing what she was doing. Your in the moment you wont care and no one else will either. At least you know that its a possiblity. I only pooped once out of all my births, it was my first. No one told me that it was normal. Later on i talked to my mom about it. She was like whats the big deal? lol It will all come out weather we want it or not. In the end.. You will have a beautiful baby!
Re: Personal question for all you mothers out there
I have never poohed while having a kid. At my Dr they give you something to clean you out once you get to the hospital. With 10 minutes you are pooh free. I have always been induced so I give myself an enima(sp) the night before to get all out of me.
As for having hemi's I did with the first one. Then I was told about the witch hazel pads. Used them with the last 2 and no hemi's.

Thank you everyone! I knew it was normal but I think some people are just too embarrassed to talk about it. I am not afraid of pooping, just dont want DH to watch lol..... what do you do with the witch hazel pads?

Re: Personal question for all you mothers out there
So I have no idea if I did or if I didn't, I am guessing my DH would have told me, but no mention of it. I was in the delivery room with my BF, she did, but no one told her, the nurse just cleaned it up without a single word, that is how it should be done, no reason to call you out. When women go into labor on their own, they say one of the signs is lots of pooh before you realize you are in labor, that happened to one of my friends, she was in the bathroom for HOURS before she realized it was labor, but I was induced, so that didn't happen for me.
And no hemroids for me....
And no hemroids for me....

This too, is a fear of mine!! I actually asked my DR..haha.. I'm one of those mommas that hold NOTHING back with the DR.. that's what they are there for, right?? He told me if I was REALLY worried about it, to give myself an enema before I came to the hospital. He said once I'm there they won't let me do it, so to do it before I come to the hosp. SO, that's what I plan on doing. Even bought one and stashed it - READY AND WAITING POOPER REMOVER! Haha

The witch hazel pads help dry up the hemorrhoids and shrink them. They also help make them not hurt so much. You use them basically like toilet paper. Not that I know...
I went to Costco and bought a big thing of Tucks pads. They helped me out a few weeks ago, so I keep using them to keep the little bastards away. It's been working pretty well so far.

Re: Personal question for all you mothers out there
I have no idea if I've ever pooped on the table. I would assume my DH would have said something though, or my Mom. But, if you do wind up doin the dirty, it means your pushing right. All my docs have ever told me is that you should feel like your trying to take the biggest bowel movement of your life when you are pushing. I am always so doped up with my epidural that I don't really know, and truthfully don't care weather or not I poop on the table or not.
Some women just get hemeroids. Some preggo women get them from being constipated and just trying to push through it. You have a bigger blood supply down there right now and if you just keep trying to push through it, you'll aggrivate it. Take the time to eat up some Colace or apple juice.
Another ladies idea of getting the tucks isn't a bad one. Especially as when you leave the hosp, you never seem to have enough of the hosp supplied ones! And you will want them. Along with a supply of colace!! Yeah, thats something they don't tell you. How much you will bleed after and how much it hurts to poop/pee the first couple of times!!

Re: Personal question for all you mothers out there
I am sorry, but this board has me cracking up!
I guess I find scatalogical humor hilarious!
pooper scoopers? enemas aka pooper removers? yelling "oh shit!"...so funny
I did not poop on the table. I had an epi that worked too good, and I could not feel anything, nothing, not even enough to push. So they ended up vacuum extracting him, and I got a 3rd degree tear.
I would have much rather have pooped on the table than to get a tear.

I didn't poop on the table but I did get terrible hemorhoids. Make use of stool softeners!
