When do YOU think the third trimester starts?

I have seen 3 different things:

24 weeks
27 weeks
28 weeks

What are you using as your third trimester start??

And honestly, does this really have to be so confusing? shouldn't doctors/reference books/websites all figure out a way to agree about this so we don't have these questions???

I was honestly wondering this today. I read somewhere that the 2nd trimester is 14 weeks so that would make the 3rd trimester 28 weeks. Still every site and book says something different. But my vote is 28 weeks! confused

if you want to get technical; w/ 40 weeks being full term, you would have three, 13-1/3 week trimesters. Round it up to 14 weeks each trimester and you'd be at 42 weeks gestation for full term.

I'm also going with 27 weeks... just cause that's what my DR told me - but my DR also told me 2nd trimester starts at beginning of 14 weeks... so I guess he just rounds up.. 7 more weeks!

I go by the 13 week rule with the 3rd tri having a little extra time. So 26 weeks.

I am also going with 27-28 weeks... whenever the 7th month technically starts... so 7-8-9-mos. is the 3rd trimester.

most say any where between 26-28 week so i go with the middle of 27 weeks.

you take away the 2 weeks when you are not prego b4 yo ovulate then it wold be 28 weeks. i think confused
