I'm trying to catch up!

Its been awhile since I've been on and I'm trying to catch up! I told my DH not to bother me for awhile b/c I needed to get updated on you ladies. I don't think he minds, he's playing XBox and trying to catch up with his online buddies too.

I'm still trying to adjust to having this little guy home but I love every minute of it! I'm just so thankful that my DH has 3 weeks off. I don't know what I would if I didn't have him. He has really been such a big help and taking good care of us. He's been on diaper duty since he's been born, I think I've only changed like 3 or 4 diapers, I'm so grateful for him. He's been tending to his belly button and taking care of his circumcision. He's got it down better than I do! I'm breastfeeding and its going okay. I knew it would be hard from everything I've read/heard but OMG...its really hard! At first he wasn't latching right and it hurt like hell but I didn't know until one of the nurses showed me and it didn't hurt and I was like holy cow what a difference! I wanted to see the lactation specialist while I was in the hospital but she didn't work that weekend. I was sooo mad!! But we're still trying to get the groove of it and I'm determined to breastfeed. So we'll get it. My nipples are at the point where their pretty much broken in...lol. Lanolin is my best friend right now!

My family is teasing us because he looks so asian. My DH and I are mutts, he's black/filipino and I'm white/filipino, so I guess that makes Ronin 50% filipino, 25% white & 25% black. What a mixture! In the hospital my bro-in-law was like are you sure there isn't a korean family on this hall missing a baby!! haha! I told him that I'm sure the nurses that bring him back from the nursery are wondering what this white lady is doing with an asian baby. It doesn't bother me at all, I think he looks beautiful and I don't care if he doesn't look like me. He looks like he has parts of us, my DH's nose, my lips, my hair, my DH's face shape...can you tell I've been staring at him all day and picking this apart? lol

We had our weight check appt today. When he was born he weighed 7.11, when we left the hospital he was 7.8 and today he's at 7.1. The dr. said it was normal for them to lose weight and we're going back on Friday for another weight check. Everything else looks great and he's healthy! Here's a picture of him all bundled up in his car seat ready to go.

Gotta get ready for the next feeding, can't wait till more babies join us!

Aren't we all mutts in the grand scheme of things??? LOL...I was laughing so hard when I read that part of your post! He is adorable! I am glad the breastfeeding is going well for you. I am a bottle feeding mama, so I have no advice for you there. Lucky you to have your DH for 3 weeks...take full advantage of that and get some rest! Ronin is beautiful!

Thanks for taking the time to update us! It sounds like things are going well. That's great that your dh is able to be home with you for 3 weeks, definitely a huge help. Ronin is adorable!

Rochelle~ That is the first thing that I thought when I saw Ronin! He looks really Asian. My son 1/4 Japanese and came out looking Asian as well. We called him our buddah baby. Very strong genes! I am curious to see what this one will look like. I am happy for you that things are going well.

Congrats on your successful breastfeeding. I'm determined too and remaining very hopeful. Ronin is a doll. I can't wait to see what our little girl looks like. It must be magical to look at someone and see yourself or your SO in them

Ronin is very handsome. I had thought when i saw the pictures of him that he looked asian and neither one of you did. But your pictures were so small i thought i was mistaken. Regardless.. i bet he has a good mixture of the two of you.

A friend of mine is 1/2 chinese and have spanish her dh is half korean and have mexican.. their dd is BEAUTIFUL! She got a great mixture of the two of them.

I have to put my name in the mutt pile I am black 50% white (Italian and German) 25% cape verdean25%, and my granddad say native American but that I don’t believe. my poor soon his dad is 50% basian (Barbados) and 50% Jamaican. so when he asks what we are I just don't know what to tell him yet.
