*Rant* HELP!!!!
Ok so I live in a single house, and my next door neighbors recently got a drum set. It's been a few weeks now, and one of the first nights DH was outside and one of the guys asked if they were bothering us. Apparently it seems that they a 'jamming' over there. I swear they have amps and speakers everything.
At first we didn't mind, it didn't seem too loud or anything. But I swear it has gotten louder!
I was wondering if u girls could help me find a nice way to tell them that I am going to come in their house with a baseball bat at destroy those F*@KING DRUMS!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's a couple single guys that live there, at least one is a FF.
When I was putting Mason to sleep, tonight it was late, I didn't take him to bed til 11 but the drums were still going, and granted it's a friday night but come on, they need to understand it's loud as sh*t!! and we have little kids. Anyway it doesn't seem to bother Mason, but it really gets me all anxious and irritated. And can u imagine trying to sit and nurse ur baby with drums being played next door.
DH said he's gonna talk to them tomorrow.
I may have to move soon, cause it will get bad if they give a problem, better believe this prego will be out there dropping fbombs !!!
hopefully they understand, that i'm not trying to be an assh*le
thanks for listening/reading
i'm just irritated, but one thing is they did stop playing at about 1130-1145, and it's been past 9-10 during the week alot of nights.

Yuk! I wouldnt like that either! Even if it doesnt bother Mason tonight, it might on another night. Especially when its spring/summer and your windows are open at night. That might not be what you want to be hearing. If it does bother him right now, you can always try a noise machine or fan in his room. I cannot sleep without the noise machine or humidifier. Every little noise bothers me. And the silence about kills me. But i think you should let dh handle it. No need for you in your condition going over there being a woman and pregnant to a mans house. If all else fails you can call the police to have them handle it. But i would say that as a last resort. No need to get neighbors mad at ya! They might key your car or egg your house! Maybe they dont realize how much neighbors can hear. Hopefully they have a basement they can take the drums to.
Best wishes.. hope it gets resolved!

Re: *Rant* HELP!!!!
tonight is not the first night that it's bothered me and Mason seems unbothered, I do have his music on while he's falling asleep. I can still hear the drums.
And I know I really can't imagine in the summer with the windows open, I'm really going to go nuts!!!!! Postpartum and all trying to sit and nurse, calmly. it won't happen if those drums are going!
I'm not sure if the drums are in the basement or not. I'm surprised that I can hear the drums as loud as I do, without being joined houses.
I do have a box fan in his room, i was gonna put it on if he was woken up or bothered by the noise.
i just hope they understand

Jillian--is there a noise ordinance in your area? I know here in the city it's 10:00, weeknights or weekends. Also, you can request that they put them in a sound proof room. It'll probably be hard with a house of single guys to get them to understand the fact that you are nursing and irritated. They probably won't get that. But maybe if you can work with them to set time limits it might be better. I'm sure the neighbors on the other side are just as annoyed. Good luck!!

I agree with PP. See is there is a noise ordinance. Talk to them nicely and see if they can quit around 9 or so. If now throw the F bomb and smash the drumstick over there heads! I am sure you aren't the only neighbor who is complaining about the noise.

Re: *Rant* HELP!!!!
That is what I was wondering, do they have neighbors on the other side you could check with to see if its bothering them too? I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt that they have no idea how loud it is for you all, so once you tell them its bothering you they will quit earlier...BUT that might not happen so I agree, let your DH deal with it for now...
Do they own the house next to you or rent? Because I was thinking if they rented, maybe you could talk to the owner...
GOOD LUCK!!

Re: *Rant* HELP!!!!
Do you live next door to me? DH plays the drums and has a set in our sub-basement. However, you can hardly hear the drums outside when he is playing. When he used to "jam" with friends, Savanna and I would have to leave the house because it does get loud inside, but not bad outside.
Sorry to hear about the noise. Maybe you could suggest they move the drums to the basement or hang foam stuff on the walls to deaden the sound (we have foam hanging on our sub-basement walls).

Re: *Rant* HELP!!!!
If they don't respond to being asked to quiet down, you can always record the baby crying and project at full volume towards their house randomly and at all hours of the night. I know that it seems juvenile, but we had a neighbor who would jam to classic R&B albums (I mean jam like he wanted to feel like he was at a concert) with his windows open at all hours. We share a driveway with the guy and are only seperated by 20 ft of space, so our walls would vibrate and we could hear the words to all the songs over the shower, the vacuum, you name it. It was like living life with a perpetual foreplay soundtrack.
He never responded to requests to turn it down, even after we called the cops to come enforce the noise ordinance. We own and he rents so we tried to get the landlord involved, and he turned out to be a total dick (no one else has complained to me, so you guys must just be intolerant). So I acquired some Polish polka albums (it was the least vulgar yet most annoying genre I could think of) and opened our windows and jammed to polka as loud as I could tolerate (which is pretty loud, my mom's family are Polish immigrants) and he finally got the picture. The R&B stopped, so the polka stopped. Plus he knows that if he chooses to turn it up again, he'll get a back stage pass to the most obnoxious polka festival I can muster.

Re: *Rant* HELP!!!!
ok, well DH did apparently handle the situation.
He, as he said he would, said something to the main guy that lives there. apparently it's his roommate that is playing, He said he will let them know to not play late,
He even said that he thought that they were playing too late. and DH said that it's cool during the day, whatever but that we get the kids to bed around 9 and the baby's room is right there, it's aweful.
so I haven't heard the drums since. Hopefully they do chill with it at night.... That's all I'm asking!!
I don't want to have to get the cops involed and all that... That would just cause more problems than it's worth, right now anyway, If they were being jerks, absolutely, I'd be calling everynight that they were bothering me.
And I don't really talk to the people on the other side of them. I haven't really talked to any of my neighbors recently, haha, I'm like a hermit right now!!!
but anyway thanks for ur advice and letting me vent a little about it... now can u just say a prayer that they'll be respectful, and not give a problem!!!
