I just made an appt for me and DH to tour our hospitals maternity ward. We go Feb 3 at 7pm. I also got the preregistration papers today to fill out for the hospital. We will turn those in that night too. I think. Anyway, it really is getting close to time for our babies to arrive. I can't believe it. I can't wait!!!!

We just toured our maternity ward last Saturday. Wow, it was like reality hit me in the face! I can't wait to be there delivering the baby!

I would love to take a breast feeding class but I don't think we can budget it in. I have several books that I want to start reading. I also found out that there are lactation nurses available through WIC that can help if I need it. Plus there are lactation nurses at the hospital when I have Jake to help.

Sarina,
You will have to keep us posted on how your class is going. If you find any good websites or reading material please pass them on. Thanks a bunch!

I think the Breastfeeding class is a great idea if you can make it work, but the best advice you will get is when the baby is there with you and the lactation consultants at the hospital can help you, you need the actual baby to make it real Smile

I loved the tour we took while pregnant with DD...that was one of my favorite things, however the funny part was, the entire time I was in the hospital I never saw the outside of my hospital room - HA.

On the day we were scheduled to go on our tour with DD, I went into pre-term labor Laughing Well, I guess it wasn't really that funny. That was my FIRST of THREE pre-term visits before she finally made her debut. Anyway, needless to say, I saw enough of L&D with her to be really comfortable this time around!

I agree that you really need to see what kind of nurser your baby is. I took a class, but nothing could prepare me for the real deal. It does take practice until the two of you get into a routine. Some babies totally get how to nurse from the beginning and some need to learn how to do it.

I never toured my hospital. I already knew like the back of my hand. My mom was head of the mail room so on days off school I would go and help her out. So when I had my first the nurses put there name in urinal thing to see who would be my nurse tongue .

Then they re-did it and well I worked there at that time so I knew all about it.

The one new thing they have is when ever a baby is born the play chimes all over the hospital. That started Jan 1st of this year. I am sure the first couple weeks of that got on everybody's nereves.
