ER Visit for Poor Olivia
Another ER Visit for Sweet Olivia, this time her fever spiked to 104.9 so our Pediatrician said since that was WITH Motrin to take her in. Of course after 2 hours of waiting I was thinking...we should have just given her another dose and let her fall asleep. So we are just getting home now at 12:15 after leaving here at 8:30pm, a chest x-ray later and she has Bronchilitis (different from Bronchitis they tell me). She was given Meds this morning at the Doc for an ear infection and there is nothing they can do for the Bronchilitis, so we are just going to have to wait it out. She was quiet when we first got there and then around 10:30 she got her second wind and is WIRED and is in a great mood.
It was heart breaking, there was a little one there on oxygen, he tested postive for RSV, which is going around like crazy here and he wouldn't stop crying, I felt so bad for him and Olivia just kept staring.
While we aren't having "Spring Spring" babies, be thankful that we aren't having a true Winter baby either, I can't imagine a 1 month old getting RSV and having to be hooked to an IV. Olivia had an IV when she was 10 months old and that was one of the worst days of my life...

So sorry you had to go through that. We had to take our YDD to the dr when she was just 2mo and was put straight into the hosp for 3 days b/c of bad stomach flu. She was so dehydrated and couldn't get over it. She did however give it to her siblings who passed it on to the kids they were staying with! They didn't have it as bad as she did though.
I hope she gets better soon!!

They said it should hang around for a week to 10 days, but the cough could be around for a while longer...joy!
Re: ER Visit for Poor Olivia
The ER is the worst place for babies. I just hate having to take them there.
Caitlin fell down the stairs when she was 22 months, I was 5 months preggers. It was horrible. I took her to the closet hospital and then they sent her to Children's to get a CT scan. She would not sit still so they had to bubble wrap her. I was not able to go with her being preggers so dh did and I just sat in the hall and could here her cry. It was horrible. She came out covered in sweat and snot and puke. We had to give her bath in the sink in the room.
I hope Olivia gets to feeling better soon.

Poor Olivia, I am so sorry to hear that she was so sick. I hope she starts feeling better soon and the bronchitis doesn't stick around for too long. Hope you're feeling alright too! I'm sure the stress of a little one being sick and the lack of sleep has taken it's toll on you too. Hopefully you can curl up and take a nap today.

Awww...hugs to all of you. I hope Olivia gets feeling better soon. It is so scary when they are on IV's. My DD was hospitalized at 1 month old for viral meningitis. That scared me to death. She was there for 5 days. IV's the whole time in her leg. They told me though that if that one did not keep they would put it in her head, which really disturbed me.
I hope Olivia gets better soon. Having a sick little one at home is always draining.

Oh no!! Poor Olivia! Like you need this stress about now! Its so hard when they are sick. Bronchitis is not fun either. There is really no quick fix. When Logan was 22 mths he got croup really bad and his asthma had also kicked in. He was in the hosptial for 3 days in a croup tent. The meds they gave him worked so well. We went to Florida Disney like the next week and he was all better! I remember how scared i was in the beginning though because he was barely breathing when we arrived at the ER.
Hang in there.. hopefully dh helps out a little bit knowing you need rest too. Hugs

I can only imagine being in the ER with a little one is one of the scariest. especially when after being seen they say there is not much they can do. WOW I’m hoping she has a speedy recovery.

Re: ER Visit for Poor Olivia
Thanks Ladies, you're the best!!!
She has had a rough day, she woke up at 8:30 this morning, so 6 hours of sleep last night, she is usually a 12 hour sleeper, and she was back down for a nap at 11am, and just woke up at 3:45pm, so she clearly needed the rest, but was burning up when she woke up since she hadn't had any Motrin or Tylenol since 8:30am. She actually just drank some water, she hates the water-gatorade mix...and ate a few animal crackers, so that is a good thing, she didn't eat or drink at all this morning. Her breathing was a lot worse this afternoon, so we did a breathing treatment and will do another one before bed, I am hoping that helps, watching her try to breath is tough. Luckily no IV last night, she had one in May when she got dehydrated from Bronchitis...
And did I mention that she threw up all over me this morning, I am hoping her meds stayed down...she isn't a fan of the antibiotic for her ear infection, but throwing them up won't help her get rid of it.
I am so confused, I didn't know there was a difference between Bronchitis and Bronchilitis...because she just finished her meds last Monday for Bronchitis, so maybe that just didn't clear up and turned into Bronchilitis, but the web tells me that RSV causes Bronchilitis, so who knows. The didn't test her again because they didn't want to do a blood test, and they were going to check for Microplasim (not sure what that is or if I am spelling it right)...
