Glucose test NOOOOOO.(RESULTS)

I am taking it tomorrow and Im soooo not happy! It is the worst part of pregnancy for me!! During my last pg the lab techs kept forgetting about me and it took twice as long,needless to say I was pissed,pregnant and hungry! I hope tomorrow goes way smoother!

good luck to you today. You must be talking about the 3 hour test?? I know Ive had it with my last pg and all was good until I left dr office got in my car and started vomiting like crazy. The nurse came out for her lunch break and saw me and got the dr, he came out, it was crazy. I thought I was dying. Just a couple minutes before i was just fine. I hope I dont have to do that again.

The test makes me sick too thats why i fast.. which makes me sick as well but in a different way.

Does everyone get a glucose test? I haven't heard anything about one from my midwife. But from the little info on here, I don't think I want one!

Sarina you are nuts! Its 50mg of pure sugar! There is these jelly beans you can eat too.. like 8 of them i think equals the 50 mg's. Its too much for me. You have to drink this drink in 5 min. Some people are not affected by it all and go on with the day. Me.. it makes me sick. So im not doing it. And yes i think its policy that everyone does it. Its really an important test i think. I have always passed it. If you do fail it.. you have to repeat it but instead of waiting one hour you have to wait 3 hrs. My doctors office wanted to me to take the drink home, drink it at home and DRIVE 45 min there to get b/w. I was like ya right~

So you get a blood test, drink some sugary stuff and then get another blood test? I can't believe I've never heard of this. I'll have to ask my midwife next week at my appointment. I'm in a centering class that combines all of our appointments with pregnancy discussions, so I guess they could do a mass testing day but it seems unlikely. Well, good luck ladies. Nope.. You drink the drink... wait an hour.. get a blood test. Thats it. If you fail i think there is 2 blood tests but not 100% cause i have never had to do that one.

I have never heard of the glucose test either! But I love sugar so bring it on lol. Is this was determines if you have GD?

Yes, this is the test for GD.

I've had GD all of my pg's, but after failing both the 1 hour and 3 hour tests with the first 3 pg's I haven't had a glucose test since. With #4 and this one, my ob just had me start finger pricking early.

So I'll be thinking of all of you chugging your orange sugar.

Btw, it effects everyone differently. I never got sick from it, just a sugar high.

For you ladies that have never had it, it does taste like orange, but with a bad taste. Kinda like when a pill gets stuck in your throat and you get that nasty chalk like taste in your mouth for a little bit. However this taste lingers a long while.

I don't mind doing the test. It doesn't taste as great as a REAL orange soda, the sooner it is down the sooner you can eat!!!! One hour wasn't to bad for me!! We got something to eat, I had a sugar high and went shopping!!! SO... good luck to all of you that have never done it. It's not THAT bad!!!

I personally like the drink. I get to have sugar without feeling guilty. I already had to do this at 10 weeks (not fasting). I just hate to sit and wait around. I will take it again in a few weeks.

Awww, these poor first timers!!!! I personally didn't think it was that bad. Of course I didn't have a bad reaction or anything.

So I took it and it went waaaay better this time! I didnt get sick and wasnt forgotten! 2 hours and 3 blood draws, I wonder how it turned out.

How did you get the results so quickly? My OB says it takes a week to get the results back? I got for mine on Monday. I don't mind the drink, I don't love it, but it isn't that bad. My issue is with fasting...I take Synthroid, and if I don't eat after an hour of taking it sometimes I get all shaky and need to eat right away, so I am guessing I will just take the Synthroid after the test since I will do it first thing at 7:30am when they open.

I have kaiser and they normally have the results within a day then they get posted for me. Sometimes its cool but other times it sux when you dont know what your looking at!
