Yipee! I passed my AFP test!
I wasn't going to have any of the elective testing done, but my doctor was very convincing. Said that because of my age (geez) that he would highly, highly recommend it. Anyway...the results came back normal today! Whew!

Congrats. When did you have your test done??? I only ask because I had mine done on the 15th (last week). They said they would call if they needed to do more testing, but I keep thinking about it.

I had it done last Friday. The doctor said the results would be back in a week, so don't you know I was on the phone with them this morning when they opened! The nurse said, "We usually go over results at the next appointment." To which I replied, "Um, that just wouldn't work for me. I need them now, before the weekend." I suggest just calling. What can it hurt?

Congrats that is great news. My OB told me it can take up to 10 business days...with my first DD it was just about a week, this one was the full 10 days, I was nervous. I had to call...

Wendy,
I find it funny that he HIGHLY recommened you have the testing due to your age. From what I can see you are only 33. Why would a doctor say that? 35 is usually the marker when they look for certain things. Strange, but such good news. I am 32 and my doctor was like "I would not worry about anything-you are only 32."

I called, but the nurse could not locate my file. She said since I was in this week it was most likley still in billing or that the test results came in and the Dr has it on his desk.
My Dr offered it to me if I wanted it. I am 27. He said I really did not need it, but I said I would like to know if something was wrong. Just so I could get all the info on it I could.

Yes, I was confused by the age issue too. The only thing I can really think of is that I have PCOS and Insulin Resistence. They don't really consider me "high" risk, but "higher than normal" if that makes sense. Either way, I'm excited that it came back normal. Whew!
