Week of October 5 - 11
Hi Little Lambs. I hope everyone had a good weekend.
Mine was very busy, but in a good way. My DH and I had lunch with my Dad and his wife on Saturday, and then they treated us to a movie. We saw "Duchess" which was really good (but very emotional if you are pregnant -- fair warning!). I was glad I had kleenex with me! I did get sick on Saturday night for the first time in weeks. I haven't shaken the m/s quite yet, but it had been a while since anything actually came out of my gagging. On Sunday, we spent the afternoon with 5-year old twin girls and took them and their parents on a Duck tour of Seattle. It was our birthday present to them, and they loved it! It was an hour of driving around the city, and then half an hour on the water. It was very fun, and makes me very excited for our unborn peanut to be 5 some day!
I've been feeling my baby move for a while now. I think I felt flutters first around 11 or 12 weeks, but only once. Now I feel it daily. I haven't figured out a pattern yet, but I got such a strong kick on Friday night that it woke me up! I had just gone to bed and was almost asleep and then WHAM! So cool. I also feel like the baby rolls over every once in a while. It's almost like losing my stomach on a roller coaster, but not so extreme.
Anyway, I hope you're all doing well. Have a great week!

Re: Week of October 5 - 11
Hi, Lisa it sounds like you had fun this weekend! Mine was uneventful. My older 2 girls are cheerleaders for a travelling competitive football team so we had their game to go to. My oldest got stung by a bee while she was doing a cheer. First bee sting for any of my kids, I felt so bad as she was trying so hard not to cry.
I went to Kohl's Saturday morning and found a few unisex sleepers and some plain Carter's bodysuits. That was the beginning of my shopping for the baby. We aren't finding out the sex, so I'm not going to buy a lot of clothes/sleepers until after the birth. But it was fun to get started!
Today my online order from Motherhood arrived. I bought 4 tops & a sweater, some underwear, and a few bra back extenders (ahhhh...instant relief!).
Wednesday I have to go to the diabetic center. I had gd all 4 of my other pg's so my ob had me start testing my sugars early. They are too high and this time I can't control it with diet. All the other times I could. I'm most likely going to get stuck on insulin, and that sucks.

I was worried to go to Motherhood because I assumed it would be the most expensive place for maternity clothes (since we're kind of a captive audience), but I was really surprised at how cheap things were. I can't remember the last time I found a supportive bra for $16!
I'm kind of at an awkward stage where I can tell I'm popping, but everyone else thinks I'm eating too many cookies. So shopping hasn't been too fun for me.
Good luck with the diabetic center visit. Insulin would suck, but at least it goes away after you have the baby right?
Take care!

I'm also at that stage of it looking questionable if I'm pg or just eating too much. I usually don't pop until a week or two after my 20 week u/s, then it really shows.
With the gd, the other 4 times, it did go away. I'm worried about it becoming type 2 this time, since all the other times I could control it with diet. I have pcos, so I'm at high risk for developing type 2, I'll have to have it checked after the baby is born. Thanks for the good luck wishes, I think I'll be needing them!

Karen-good luck at your appointment.
Lisa- I'm the same way with the belly. I look like I've put on weight but maybe not pregnancy weight. I have an OB appointment Wednesday night so we'll see how much weight I 've gained.
They'll be giving me my script so I can schedule my ultrasound appointment. I'm curious if they'll tell me to wait until 20 weeks to schedule I can't remember with my son. So excited to find out what we're having. My son is having surgery on Friday for a blocked tear duct. I'm nervous but glad he is finally getting it done. His eye had been blocked since birth and it is always sore, red, and irritated. He will be under general anesthsia so that is a little scary. Other than that October is already flying by. I feel like it will be Halloween soon. Luke, DS, is being a pirate. He is one has just started walking so he looks so cute in his little costume. I'm taking my boards for my RN license on November 3rd. I'm super nervous because I already failed once and came really really close to passing. I just want to pass so bad!!!!! I'm trying to squeeze in as much study time as possible but thats not really working with a one year old.

Good luck studying, Kellie. I take exams for my job (I'm an actuary) and it's been a long road. I don't know if I'll be able to pass my last two exams once the baby's here. I'm sitting the fall season out because I lost 8 weeks to morning sickness. Anyway, I'm sure you'll pass this time!
And I can't wait until Halloween next year to dress our baby up! Will you post pictures of your son in his costume? So cute!

Re: Week of October 5 - 11
Hi ladies! I have to wait until November 8th to find out the sex! boo hoo! I have an u/s scheduled on Oct 30th for my doctor but the hospital doesn't tell the gender by policy so I have to go to an independant u/s clinic to find out and that's the earliest I could get in. I'm anxious, and I keep imagining what it would be like if they tell me it's a girl. I have to admit I really have my hopes up about that.
Before we know it it'll be Halloween. I feel lucky because both of my boys have decided they want to wear the same costumes as last year AND they fit!! So, I'll have a ghost and a skunk again. My 3yo keeps asking when "Halloweenday" is. He always says it like it's all one word like that....so cute.

I had no idea the waiting would be the hardest part of pregnancy, but it definitely is! Notice how quickly I seem to have forgotten the 8 weeks of morning sickness! I can't believe your doctors won't determine gender by policy -- that's nuts! Of course we all want to know that our babies are healthy and developing well, but that's not all we want to know! I had a dream last night that I went in for mine and we found out it was a girl. I started crying, looked at my DH and said, "There's Lily Grace!" It was really awesome until I woke up. But I guess I've decided it's a girl after all, so we'll see how that instinct plays out in 4 and a half weeks. Ugh! That's so long!
